I am excited to be on this “soaring” journey with each of you this 2021-2022 school year. There is an amazing year awaiting. A year designed to encourage and ensure that all students are performing on or above grade level and that teachers are equipped and confident with providing reading instruction. My specific responsibilities will allow me to work closely with teachers in grades K-3, per the Alabama Literacy Act. Student reading achievement and growth will be our common goal.
I am a native of Troy, Alabama where I currently reside with my husband Jamaal and son Cyree. I attended Troy University and received both my Bachelor of Science in K-6 Collaborative/Elementary Education and Master of Science in Elementary Education. I started my journey as a kindergarten teacher at Pike County Elementary School, January 2004. Teaching kindergarten has been well rewarding, but this position is THE position I’ve dreamed of for a long time. I want to impact student learning by empowering teachers. TOGETHER we will address reading deficits early and prevent critical reading difficulties. TOGETHER we will “SOAR!”
